Meet the Parents
Privacy Policy

Meet the Parents is run by Meet the Parents. This policy covers the iPhone app and this website. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we collect
- Account. Your name, email address, mobile number, and the Google or Facebook account id if you sign in with one.
- Your family's profile. The parent profile and the adult child's profile: photos, date of birth, the city or area you choose, education, work, religion and community if you fill them in, and the answers you write to prompts.
- Approximate location. The city or area you enter, and its coordinates, so we can show you families near you. We do not read your device's GPS in the background.
- Activity. Likes, passes, matches, introduction requests and the messages parents send each other.
- Usage analytics. Which screens you open, which steps of sign-up you finish, and when something fails. These records carry your account id and the name of the screen. They never carry the text of a message, a bio, or a prompt answer.
- Technical. Device type, operating system version, app version, and IP address, used to keep the service working and to stop abuse.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data. Not to anyone, at any price.
- We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not post anything to your Google or Facebook account, and we do not read your friends, contacts, timeline or photo library beyond the pictures you choose to upload.
Why we hold it
To show families to each other, to run matching, to let parents talk, to keep the service safe, and to work out which parts of the app people cannot get through. That is the whole list.
The adult child's consent
A profile for an adult child is only shown to other families once that person's consent has been recorded in the app. Everyone listed is 18 or over. Either the parent or the adult child can withdraw consent at any time, and the profile stops being shown from that moment.
Who else sees it
Other families see your family's profile: photos, the answers you wrote, your first names and your approximate area. They never see your email address, your phone number, or your exact address.
We use a small number of companies to run the service, and they see only what they need to: our hosting and database providers, and the sign-in providers you choose to use. None of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account, at which point it goes immediately. See deleting your account. The only thing that survives is what the law requires us to keep, which carries no profile content.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export or delete everything we hold about you. Deleting is a button in the app and takes effect at once. For a copy of your data, or anything else, email privacy@parentmatched.com and we will reply within 30 days.
If you are in California, the EEA or the UK, you have specific rights under the CCPA, the GDPR and the UK GDPR. We honour all of them for everyone, so there is nothing extra you need to do.
Children
Meet the Parents is for adults. Nobody under 18 may hold an account or be listed on a profile. If we learn that a profile describes someone under 18 we remove it. If you believe a profile shows a minor, tell us at hello@parentmatched.com and we will act within 24 hours.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to run the service.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app if the change is significant.
